What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this vital role you will be responsible for a team of internal and external engineering project management, construction, and industry trade partners to deliver a portfolio of capital projects at the Amgen North Carolina Campus. May serve as the project manager for business-critical projects.

  • Establishing safety culture and demonstrating safety by example
  • Selecting and retaining high performing project management and execution professionals
  • Determining project objectives, consistent with company priorities and policies
  • Supporting project teams through design, procurement, construction, and Commissioning & Qualification
  • Preparing project funding documents with scope, cash flow, schedule, and deliverables
  • Leading contract partner evaluation and selection process
  • Reviewing and approving cost estimates and establishing check and balance system.
  • Integrating complete team into planning and design reviews for projects
  • Establishes policies for major projects, interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to company-wide policies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Engineering and/or Project Management experience OR
  • Associates degree and 10 years of Engineering and/or Project Management experience OR
  • Bachelors degree and 8 years of Engineering and/or Project Management experience OR
  • Masters degree and 6 years of Engineering and/or Project Management experience OR
  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of Engineering and/or Project Management experience
  • In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have a minimum of 2 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the application of project management skills and concepts with an understanding of related engineering subject areas

  • Leadership experience with a team with varied strengths of technical engineering and facilities management with an organization in the Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology industries
  • Demonstrate practical resourcefulness with the ability to problem solve using practical solutions
  • Possesses interpersonal skills to work with technical scientific and management internal user groups
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and conflicting priorities across a broad range of facilities and engineering subject areas
  • Excellent communication skills featuring a demonstrated supervisory style that fits within the Amgen culture and values
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to considerately negotiate and positively influence peers and executive leadership
  • Effective oral, visual and written communication skills with the ability to listen optimally
  • Resilience and flexibility with the ability to react to changes quickly, and the ability to apply knowledge to new problems and new contexts
