OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE
Scientific leader with deep subject-matter expertise, driving project team progression and development oftechnical capabilities.
Senior scientific and team leader within the Inflammation division of the GI/Inflammation Drug Discovery Unit
(DDU) responsible for:
Helpingto build an industry-leadingdrugdiscovery pipeline for autoimmune diseasesimmune-mediated GI, or dermatologicaldiseasesleadingindependent design and implementation of drugdiscovery pipeline programs.
Leading the evaluation and integration of externalprograms and academiccollaborationsinto thepipeline, in line with establishedstrategic focus areas.
Contribute to multiple preclinical or clinical projects, actingas senior scientificconsultant and /orproject team leader.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Providesscientificcontributionswhich have significant impact on portfolio progress or developmentof technical capabilities, based on benchmarking to industry best-in-class.
Contributes to development and implementation of scientific strategy, throughtangible deliverables;challenges dogmas and internal 'blind spots'; actively pressure-testsideas cross-functionally andvia external network.
Responsible for the validation, nomination and progression of drugdiscovery pipeline programsthroughdirect project championroles and management of junior staff.
Responsible for the evaluation, establishment and integration of externalprograms from academicor BD collaborationsinto GI / Inflammation pipeline in line with establishedstrategic focus areas.
Matrix with other parts of the Takeda organizationincludingchemistry, DMPK, safety, translational,and clinical development to advance pipeline programs.
Providesignificant input into department strategy includingareas of scientific focus, partnerships,and collaborations
Participate in management of resourcing and budget planning for his/her pipeline programs.
Contribute to the preparation/editing/review of documents for regulatorysubmission (i.e., studyreports, IB’s, IND’s)
Establishes a strong externalreputation, throughscientificpublication and presentation.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
PhD degree in aimmunology or closelyrelated discipline with 10+ years' experience, or MS with 16+ years' experience, or BS with 18+ years' experience
At least 7 years' experiencein amanagerialrolein apharmaceutical/biotech environment
The position will be based in Cambridge, MA.This position is currently classified as “hybrid” by Takeda’s Hybrid and Remote Work policy.

Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$169,400.00 - $266,200.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
