Job Description

This Manager, Medical Affairs role will work under the direction of Global HIV Medical Affairs leadership and support the HIV Global Medical Affairs team in the delivery of strategically aligned medical educational activities and other relevant projects and ensure consistency and efficiency in the delivery of all relevant departmental operations and processes.

This is an office-based role in Foster City, CA

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

Working with the direction of the GMA team independently manages, facilitates, or provides support to the:
  • Execution of HIV Global Medical Affairs Plan of Action
  • Assist in the development of educational resources (including, but not limited to slide decks, infographics, videos, digital resources, etc.) designed to increase the understanding of healthcare professionals on HIV disease state, available treatment and prevention options, and optimal approaches to disease management with a goal of long-term health and long-term treatment success.
  • Implementation of Medical Affairs programs, by providing support from concept discussion meetings to implementation ensuring necessary approvals (e.g., MRC, IT & privacy assessments, etc) and budget control
  • Coordination and roll-out of GMA to local communications
  • Assists in the quality control and improvement of processes related to GMA projects.
  • Complete medical review and certification (if applicable) of both branded and unbranded materials developed by HIV global teams.
  • Collaboratively work with Gilead personnel across multiple functional areas, including Commercial, Marketing, Clinical Research, Pharmacovigilance and Epidemiology, Regulatory, and Legal/Business Conduct on strategy execution and content creation
  • Support the training within the therapeutic area on relevant topics for Medical Affairs and other functional areas.


Specific Education and Experience Requirements:
  • PharmD, Ph.D., MD, DO, MPH with 0- 2 years' experience, or other advanced health-related or life science degree with required experience (MS +4 years; BS +6 years)
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, particularly within Medical Affairs
  • Relevant experience in HIV or infectious disease therapeutic areas preferred.
  • Experience in medical communications around clinical data, and developing educational resources such as slide decks, infographics, videos, and other.
  • Demonstrated success in working closely with management to develop effective and creative solutions to complex problems and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Committed to continuing education to maintain a knowledge base and expand disease-state knowledge.
  • Ability to utilize moderately complex scientific resources across a variety of different settings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and experience in working on cross-functional teams.


The salary range for this position is: $143,225.00 - $185,350.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
