The Role

In this role, you will be part of a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team of engineers and scientists where communication skills and attention to detail are vital to team achievement. The candidate is expected to have a strong understanding of the process steps completed daily and derive process improvements from that understanding. It is expected that the candidate has a team mentality and respects the common work areas. They value safety and respect for the workspace and those that work around them to maintain a safe work environment. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to quickly master new processes and the drive to be part of a dynamic, fast paced, and highly motivated work culture. An effective applicant must be fearless in the successful completion of program goals.

Heres What Youll Do

  • Lead the design and assembly of integrated high-throughput systems for Technology Development teams with an emphasis on establishing scalable/ transferable processes for producing high quality material

  • Understand automation methods and laboratory equipment troubleshooting

  • Ensure high quality data generation throughout the process and provide analysis and technical reports

  • Rapidly learn the workflows of technical teams by shadowing lab scientists from representative groups

  • Communicate technical findings to colleagues and collaborators within formal and informal settings

  • Take ownership of the instrument maintenance and qualifications required to ensure high quality data and robust sample processing

  • Provide scientific and technical support for multidisciplinary project teams

  • Practice safe work habits and adhere to Moderna safety procedures and guideline

  • Implement/Participate in evaluation of novel technology for unit operations in PD

  • Prepare of document and presentations for the end users

  • Additional duties as may be assigned from time to time

Heres What Youll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field.

  • 2-4 years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with high-throughput systems and laboratory automation.

  • Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new processes quickly and efficiently.

  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Prior success in developing automated equipment or processes for biopharmaceutical and life sciences teams

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a highly dynamic environment

  • A limitless curiosity enabling quick mastery of new techniques and concepts

  • Ability to multi-task to meet timelines and relentless in pursuing successful outcomes

  • Exceptional written and oral communication

  • Masters degree in Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing or technology development.

  • Familiarity with process development and operational teams.

  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and innovation.

  • Experience in preparing technical reports and presentations.

  • Extensive experience in programming Hamilton Star/Vantage systems

  • Proficiency in Python, C#, or similar programming languages

  • Fundamental understanding of various bio-separation and detection methods

  • Experience in programming industrial or collaborative robot arms, or other robotic systems

  • This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Modernas site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.
