Join Takeda as an Automation Engineer where you will lead the important work of providing first line support to scientists using lab automation, track performance of systems, perform root cause analysis of failures, and continuously improve our systems to increase performance and reliability. The Global Biologics Automation Team is building the world’s leading automation infrastructure to support the world’s leading Biologics discovery organization. This includes the build-out of new automation systems and maintaining existing automation systems. As part of the Automation Team, you will report to the Head of Automation and work with the Global Biologics organization.
How you will contribute:- Collaborate with scientists to develop, optimize, and implement new automation protocols for Global Biologics teams, focusing on the selection, screening, and characterization of therapeutics across various modalities.
- Support scientists in operating automation platforms, offering training and error-recovery guidance when necessary.
- Document system issues for efficient troubleshooting and collaborate with service vendors for equipment repair and maintenance.
- Conduct and record quality control tests on liquid handlers, plate readers, and similar equipment.
- Develop custom programming solutions in support of the automation platforms.
- BS with 8+ years’ of relevant experience experience.
- Demonstrated familiarity with at least one of the following scheduling softwares: Cellario, Overlord, Green Button Go, or Momentum.
- Demonstrated familiarity with at least one of the following liquid handlers: Dynamic Devices Lynx, Tecan, Hamilton, Agilent Bravo.
- Programming experience in Python or C#.
- Experience with at least one of the following: CAD, Arduino microcontrollers, CNC machining, or 3D printing.
- Able to work independently on moderately complex tasks and increasing independence on highly complex tasks.
- Able to communicate clearly, especially with less technical colleagues and to collaborate with other teams.
- Experience with vendor management.
- Experience with root cause analysis (RCA), corrective and preventive actions CAPA, and continuous improvement.

Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$108,500.00 - $170,500.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
