Job Description:

The Accounting Manager will actively participate in the accounting close and financial reporting process for the North American Ipsen affiliates and will support more broadly the key activities including internal control monitoring, internal and external audits, and special projects as necessary. This position works with tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, financial and management reporting as well as year-end audit preparation related activities.

The role operates in a geographically dispersed, matrixed organization, and will serve as a critical contact point for global supporting areas including: the UK shared service center (SSC) team, the Group Consolidation and Internal Controls teams in France, and the Finance Systems team in France. This role can be based in Cambridge, MA or Berkeley Heights, NJ as part of the Ipsen North America Core Services Team and will report to the Director of Accounting & Transparency.

Main Responsibilities & Job Expectations

General Accounting Functions:

  • Actively participate in month end accounting process including but not limited to journal entry and accrual preparation, account analyses and reconciliations.
  • This role will also help to support both the NA and UK SSC Accounting teams including but not limited to the order to cash process, inventory accounting, IFRS16 related accounting.
  • Partner with FP&A team and UK SSC Accounting team to periodically review and close out historical purchase orders and goods receipts from the balance sheet.
  • Support NA banking and payment activities and coordinate with Group Treasury team.

Group Reporting and Special Projects:

  • Work with UK SSC Accounting team on monthly BFC corporate reporting and intercompany reporting for North American entities, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and an efficient process.
  • Support internal audit preparation and fieldwork.
  • Support external audit engagements over applicable entities.

Other responsibilities:

  • Communication and coordination with other departments on various financial issues.
  • Participate and support the business with annual requirements of the Control Self-Assessment questionnaire, including identifying corrective actions and monitoring results.
  • Lead the process to simplify the process to complete required Government filings and surveys, which may require input from various business partners.
  • Serve as main SAP system administrator for North America SAP user role administration. Perform annual SAP user access reviews.
  • Support the tax department with key analyses needed to support appropriate transfer pricing and tax compliance matters.

Knowledge, Abilities & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related degree
  • CPA highly preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience with a track record of success in accounting, and financial processes roles; Big 4 experience desired, but not required.
  • Pharmaceutical experience is preferred.
  • Ability to quickly acclimate to complex financial accounting applications.
  • SAP experience highly preferred; TM1 experience a strong plus

Key Technical Competencies

  • Must be able to demonstrate a detailed and extensive technical expertise as well as an application of accounting principles, concepts, theories, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS rules.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in the use of spreadsheet programs and other software applications for financial analysis and financial modeling.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to navigate matrixed organizations and reporting relationships.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

The annual base salary range for this position is $91,500 - $135,000

The pay range displayed above is the range of base pay compensation within which Ipsen expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and demonstrated skills
