Position Brand Description:

The B130 Back End Process Team is a cross-functional team responsible for operations of process equipment including by not limited to reactions, columns, and crystallizers. The role serves as the key integrator of the team to drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement per the Manufacturing Standards for Operational Excellence.  The Operations Associate is responsible for providing operational support to the process team, coordinating activities related to changeover between molecules, and maximizing overall uptime to support the manufacture of bulk drug substance.   

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

Operational Support

  • Provide support as needed to Process Team Leader and Process Team, including facilitating and driving cross functional alignment and integration of the process team.
  • Facilitating daily meetings including the use of appropriate communication tools to ensure the process team members are aware of process status and any assigned responsibilities to address.
  • Escalating issues to the appropriate management level when necessary, following the appropriate notification to management process
  • Leading with Root Cause Analysis exercises and ensuring robustness of Root Cause Analysis effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions

Changeover Coordination

  • Responsible for overall changeover activities B130 Back End – create and drive an integrated project plan for all changeover activities.
  • Integrate safety into all aspects of changeover, drive safe execution of non-routine activities.
  • Work closely with the Flow Team to coordinate necessary resources to support changeover activities.
  • Work closely with Maintenance and Plant Engineering Leadership to coordinate necessary utilities and maintenance activities during changeover.
  • Lead the generation and approval of key documentation including protocols, change controls, and SOPs.
  • Lead changeover-related governance meetings including daily work planning meetings and the Changeover Steering Team.

Changeover Strategy

  • Improve the site’s overall changeover strategy, including capturing learnings from initial changeovers and improving overall efficiency and changeover timelines.

Leadership Support

  • Ensure cross functional engagement and awareness when the process team members are directly supporting the floor to resolve production issues, investigate non-conformances, and work on continuous improvemnt projects.
  • Have appropriate presence on the floor.
  • Represent the frontline resource perspective in cross-functional discussions.
  • Help process team set daily priorities.
  • Stand in for Process Team Leaders as a delegate where appropriate.
  • Participate in B130 Flow Team.
  • Assist with metrics tracking for process team and/or flow team.

Basic Requirements:

  • Ability to function in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize competing priorities and to appropriately communicate verbally and in writing to various audiences.
  • Availability to address processing emergencies over the phone and at times return to the plant during off-hours.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management and coordination.
  • Ability to influence and network with multiple levels and functions of the organization.

Additional Preferences:

  • Language: English

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum B.S. in engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of applicable manufacturing-related experience, preferably some biosynthetic, fermentation, and/or purification operations experience.

Other Information:

  • This position serves an 8-hour Monday through Friday work schedule.  Situations may arise where off-schedule work, both on-site and off-site, will be required.
  • This position requires little to no travel.
  • Tasks require entering manufacturing and laboratory areas, which require wearing appropriate PPE and the ability to access plant operating equipment including climbing of stairs and ladders.
  • This position requires 24/7 availability via cell phone.
