The Diabetes, Obesity and Complications Therapeutic Area (DOCTA) of Eli Lilly and Company, focuses on the discovery of biologic, small molecule and genetic therapeutics for the treatment of diabetes, obesity and associated complications.We are seeking a skilled and motivated postdoctoral scientist to join our team! The successful candidate will be contributing to a research project focused on building a cross-species transcriptomics atlas of feeding centers in the brain to advance our understanding of the pathways critical for the regulation of energy balance at a molecular level. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and establishing critical capabilities in the laboratory setting for the research project.Key responsibilities include:
  • Collect and process tissues for bulk, snRNASeq and spatial transcriptomics from mouse and human brain regions of interest, potentially in lean and obese metabolic conditions.
  • Plan and independently complete bulk, snRNASeq and spatial transcriptomics studies and analyses
  • Perform RNAScope and immunohistochemistry
  • Function independently, work within a team-oriented lab environment and work within cross-functional project teams
  • Contribute to a robust post doc culture at Lilly by presenting research updates to internal group and department meetings and present findings at national conferences and publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals
  • Requirement for accurate record keeping, independent data analysis, and reporting of data in written and oral formats. Will perform work in full compliance with Lilly Research Policies and complete all required training activities in the timeframe specified.
Basic qualification:
  • PhD in biology, neuroscience, or related field
Additional Skills/Preferences
  • Self-directed and highly motivated individual who wants to learn new techniques while continually pursuing research and publication goals.
  • Excellent communicator (oral and written) with presentation experience, along with a strong publication record.
  • Proficient in data analysis and reporting.
  • Good problem-solving skills, capacity to conduct research independently, and ability to work effectively in a team.
