Job Description

The Director, Marketing Operations Review Management is responsible for the strategic leadership of AbbVies U.S. Pharma Material Review Process (MRP), driving process excellence and agility for all business units. Position leads Marketing Operations teams responsible for MRP execution, using performance analytics to advance process efficiency. Director leads and partners on cross-functional programs to elevate Commercial impact and support rapidly evolving promotional channels. Position sets vision and goals for process and team, balancing business priorities and foundational policy guardrails.

This is a hybrid role and requires the ability to come to our Mettawa, Illinois office at least 3 days per week.

Accountability and Scope

  • Reports to Lead Director, Marketing Operations within the US Therapeutics Operations organization.
  • Partners with leadership across Commercial, Medical, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, and Business Technology
  • Oversees functional team of approximately 50 full time employees
  • Accountable for MRP review team structure, organizational design, and resource management
  • Represents Marketing Operations in cross-functional activities, supporting specific therapeutic areas and enterprise-wide initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates process health at business and enterprise level and assesses improvement opportunities.
  • Sets vision and focus for the team to drive goal setting, and designs opportunities for continued growth and development.
  • Directs execution and change management planning for large-scale Commercial initiatives including launches and company integrations.
  • Partners with Business Technology and digital marketing leads to optimize MRP for digital channels.
  • Collaborates with enterprise leadership team and other senior level stakeholders to evaluate complex improvement initiatives.
  • Support process audits and compliance discussions to help drive and measure policy adherence and maintain compliance standards.

  • Provides positive leadership and productive influence across the organization.

  • Effectively utilizes all available resources to manage diverse workload, maximize productivity, and support team development.

Qualifications
  • B.A./B.S./ Marketing, Communications, Advertising or Business Degree (MBA not required, but desirable)
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products (e.g. CFR 210/211, cGMP) specifically
  • 10+years of experience in marketing, project, or program management
  • 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry
  • 5+years managing people
  • Proven leadership competencies to include setting vision and strategy, building and retaining talent, grooming new leaders, knowing the business, driving for results, and encouraging open exchange of ideas and knowledge.
  • Strong, proven management experience across multiple functions including management of exempt personnel in fast-paced, service/team environment.
  • A highly motivated change agent that drives business-focused solutions.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to distill highly complex requirements into compelling business objectives, providing confidence and influence across functions and levels.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities in complex, compliance regulated department.
