Codexis, a biotechnology company based in Redwood City, CA, is looking to hire a Scientist II.Codexis is a leading enzyme engineering company leveraging its proprietary CodeEvolver® technology platform to discover, develop and enhance novel, high-performance enzymes and other classes of proteins. Codexis enzymes solve for real-world challenges associated with small molecule pharmaceuticals manufacturing and nucleic acid synthesis. The Company is currently developing its proprietary ECO Synthesis™ platform to enable the scaled manufacture of RNAi therapeutics through an enzymatic route. Codexis enzymes can drive improvements, such as higher yields, reduced energy usage and waste generation, improve efficiency in manufacturing and greater sensitivity in genomic and diagnostic applications.

About the Opportunity: The Scientist II is a part of analytical development and will be responsible for method development for pharmaceutical biocatalysts and life science enzymes. The Scientist II will also be responsible for method validation in close collaboration with the Quality Control team. They are expected to work independently with minimal supervision. This role will be responsible for designing and executing analytical studies to support product development for life science enzymes and will be based in Redwood City, CA. In this role you will be responsible for:
- Independently design and carry out method development.
- Independently design and execute physicochemical characterization on proteins and analytical studies to support product development.
- Perform data process, evaluate and interpret test and experiment data, draw conclusions based on the results.
- Prepare test methods, protocols, summary reports and technical documentation.
- Perform assay transfer, qualification and validation as per ICH guidelines.
- Work with other project team members and communicate results with the team.
- Mentor and guide junior level scientists and associates.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- PhD with industrial experience as a must, preferably in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology with 2-4 years of experience on protein biochemistry.
- Demonstrated advanced technical knowledge of analytical techniques.
- Experience with protein characterization and enzyme-based assays.
- Demonstrated expertise in the independent design and execution of analytical development projects.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with the GMP practices in a regulated environment.
- Experience with life science projects.
CODEXIS PAY TRANSPARENCY: The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Redwood City is $128,000 to $152,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Codexis is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
