Job DescriptionROLE SUMMARY
- The Head of Global Oncology Products, Pipeline and Strategy is an important and highly strategic role in the organization, responsible for understanding the oncology market and leading the global growth strategy for Takeda oncology by:
- Ensuring optimal commercialization for the oncology products in early, mid and late development phases
- Leading mid/late-stage business development search and evaluation team
- Leading strategy for marketed portfolio of global medicines
- The role will have responsibility for delivering global strategies, plans and tools for assets spanning the full oncology pipeline, and will lead the functions of global marketing, new product planning, and global insights, forecasting and analytics. S/he will also make strategic decisions on the evaluation and prioritization of the Oncology portfolio as well as work closely with Business Development to identify and evaluate potential in-licensing and/or acquisition opportunities.
- The role is a member of the Takeda Oncology Leadership Team, alongside whom s/he will shape the strategic direction of the business unit, aligning its resources and talent to achieve long-term growth.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee the development and execution of global commercial strategies, plans and programs, both short and long term in alignment with business strategy. Direct the Global Marketing organization including developing and managing budgets, developing and refining policies and procedures; and managing, mentoring and developing talent.
- Lead, develop, and execute global brand strategy that includes identification of key market issues, critical success factors for the brands, brand positioning and messaging including competitive strategies and global marketing tactics.
- Lead lifecycle planning activities including long term competitive planning.
- Provide strategic executive level support for setting performance goals and metrics and collaborating with the Oncology leadership team to ensure the brands meet or exceed their profit, financial and market share growth objectives.
- Establish and lead the cross-functional development and global brand teams to ensure commercial readiness, worldwide regulatory filings and approvals, marketing global strategic alignment, global brand positioning and life cycle management.
- Identify global market research needs, align on market research plans with Commercial Operations, and translate competitive intelligence into insights, product strategies and forecasting assumptions.
- Lead the Global Oncology Business with confidence and passion, and continually reinforce company values and culture. Maintain effective internal communications, foster teamwork, and be a constant source of inspiration and strong leadership to the organization.
- Collaborate with Regions, LOCs, R&D, corporate functions and other countries and regions on key initiatives that affect the Local and Global OBU Business.
- Drive the growth of the Global OBU Businesses by establishing sales goals for existing products, successfully launching new products, and supporting strategic partnerships.
- Develop and implement commercial innovations and best practices throughout the organization. Be an effective change leader and continuously build capabilities.
- Supports and advises the OBU Leadership Team in preparing for and leading through organizational change, ensures clarity and understanding and commitment of stakeholders.
- Advise and collaborate with OBU leaders in countries and globally to support continuous improvement and deliver best in class commercial execution.
- Lead and develop (with cross functional partners) strategic initiatives designed to drive the business unit success, including securing effective collaboration with R&D and BD in identification of external opportunities, Takeda Executive Team(TET)reporting and special strategic projects.
- Ensure aligned global commercial input is provided to inform clinical development programs of pipeline assets throughout all stages of the development program.
- Develop and nurture strong working relationships and coordinate partnerships with regional commercial and R&D organizations.
- Lead and support global product-specific marketing efforts including market development, lifecycle planning, KOL development and implementation of global programs.
- Represent a single, aligned commercial view on key issues and decisions across all regions and functions within Takeda’s worldwide commercial organization.
- Drive the functional talent agenda, model and reinforce leadership behaviors, values and culture, leading toward high employee engagement and talent development.
- Responsible for Oncology growth at Takeda via:
- Inorganic path - business development search and evaluation for mid to late-stage business development.
- Organic path - ensuring optimal commercialization for the oncology products in early, mid and late development via leading New Product planning teams on creating of Integrated Disease area strategy, Asset plans and Target product profiles.
- Serve as a member of One Oncology and Enterprise governance committees on asset, pipeline and BD decisions.
- Strong executive presence and ability to collaborate and influence across a heavily matrixed organized business unit, R&D and Corporate Functions.
- Lead Brand strategy for marketed portfolio of Global brands.
- Lead Insights and Analytics function across forecasting, Market Research, Competitive intelligence and analytics.
- Lead annual strategic planning processes like Long Range Forecasting.
- Ability to attract, develop and retain a high performing team.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES, AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree required. MBA or advanced degree preferred. Top tier strategic consulting background a plus.
- 15+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience ideally across multiple commercial related functions including marketing, market research, pricing, partnering/alliances, business development, and new product planning as well as global and regional leadership roles based in more than one major market geography
- A strategic mindset coupled with strong analytical skills and deep knowledge of global oncology and more broadly pharmaceutical markets.
- Ability to translate scientific innovation into actionable global commercial strategies.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and retain talent, build collaborative working relationships in Takeda across R&D, medical, region/country level leadership and externally with critical stakeholders.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Approximately 35% of domestic and international travel will be required to attend important meetings. Travel may on occasion be outside of normal working hours and over weekends.

Boston, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$300,800.00 - $413,600.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
