Job Details
The Litigation Counsel, General Litigation and Government Investigations role will advocate the companys position in its various litigation matters, including establishing good working relationships with internal clients and outside counsel, independently evaluating the advice of outside counsel, and managing costs. This is an Associate Director level role within the Dispute Resolution team that will have oversight for general requests for legal advice and provide legal advice to internal clients and senior management. The Dispute Resolution group within the Law Department assists with a broad range of disputes with varying subject matter, including patent litigation, government investigations, securities litigation, products liability, contract disputes, employment matters, insurance issues and other general commercial litigation. Therefore, the preferred candidate must have a diverse skill set to be able to effectively manage general litigation matters and work both independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
The role is hybrid 3 days onsite, based at our HQ campus in Sleepy Hollow, NY. This role is not open to fully remote-based work arrangements.
As an Associate Director in Dispute Resolution, a typical day may include:
- Supervising outside counsel in litigation matters in state and federal courts.
- Coordinate with outside counsel in collection and review of documents in connection with litigation.
- Working with outside counsel to prepare fact and expert witnesses for deposition and trial testimony.
- Providing advice on litigation risks to business partners and colleagues in the law department.
- Briefing senior management on ongoing litigation matters, including advising leadership on potential outcomes and litigation risks.

- Can provide thoughtful legal advice to colleagues and partners on an array of issues that can vary day-by-day, and hour-by-hour.
- Have exceptional oral and written communication skills and can provide independent judgment and an objective perspective.
- Work effectively with colleagues and clients in a collaborative environment
To be considered for this position you must possess a JD with excellent law school credentials; licensed to practice law in New York or be eligible for licensure as a registered in-house counsel with 4-8 years of general litigation experience in law firms, government, and/or in-house in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology industry. Excellent litigation skills, including identifying potential custodians and witnesses, managing document collection and production, identifying and managing suitable outside counsel, and reviewing written work product from outside counsel. The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate a strong professional track record and the ability to learn new technologies.
