Research Associate, Protein Engineering

Sutro Biopharma seeks a motivated Research Associate to join our Protein Engineering team.  As a Discovery team member, this role will have a unique opportunity to drive new technologies and engineer novel protein therapeutics in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment.  Responsibilities:

• Cloning, DNA prep work to support DNA requests for downstream workflow 
• Support keeping track of and maintaining plasmid inventory   
• Perform discovery campaign for new antibody leads by phage or ribosome display 
• High-throughput analyze sequence datasets and design affinity maturation libraries 
• Optimize lead antibodies or protein candidates by affinity maturation
• Contribute to cross-functional project teams to ensure timely progress of lead generation campaigns
• Highly adaptable and flexible individual that can work synergistically with cross-functional teams under critical timelines to meet objectives and deadlines for multiple projects 

Qualifications: 

• B.S. in chemical biology, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, or a related field with 0-3 years of experience
• Expertise in a wide range of molecular biology skills including PCR methods, vector design, related software, DNA purification, and cloning
• Capability to analyze high-throughput sequence datasets
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and think critically
• Highly self-motivated and capable of working successfully within a team environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
