Position Summary & Responsibilities
  • Ensure that company policies adhere to local, state and federal regulations.
  • Train and oversee employees on health and safety regulations
  • Monitor personnel and work space
  • Always ensure the company is prepared to submit the appropriate document
  • Encourage and advocate for safer work equipment, materials and supplies
  • Track the number of incidents and produce reports
  • Monitor exposure to certain hazardous chemicals
  • Report to Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and other relevant organizations
  • Attend seminars/workshops for further education
  • Work with legislators and politicians to support key local legislation
  • Conducts audits and identifies actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements;
  • Provides timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to the company and regulatory agencies;
  • Coordinates EHS training for employees and conducts instructor-led EHS training;
  • Writes and updates EHS plans and procedures;
  • Applies for new permits and renewals;
  • Coordinates Maryland recycling and waste minimization efforts and supports solid waste data reporting, trending, analysis;
  • Reviews and interprets existing and proposed EHS regulations to determine applicability and impact for sites;
  • Tracks and quantifies greenhouse gas and water reduction projects and solid waste diversion projects;
  • Administers sector and Maryland site electric vehicle (EV) charging programs;
  • Interfaces with regulatory representatives;
  • Supports the sector’s environmental sustainability program;
  • Completes audits, IH sampling, ergonomic assessments, and assists in pollution prevention activities;
  • Develops, implements, and maintains EHS programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation;
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and maintenance of EH&S programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation;
  • Conducts incident investigations.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience with overseeing third-party consultants/contractors;
  • Experience in conducting incident investigations
  • Professional certifications in environmental or health & safety related programs
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Tableau
  • Data management and site EHS metrics
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS degree in EHS and 3 years of experience
  • ASP certification
  • MS degree with 1 year of experience
  • Experience within a pharma/biotech company

This role is primarily a Sedentary role. This can include exerting up to 10 pounds of force to move objects

Visual acuity (such as: working with data & figures, viewing computer terminal, extensive reading, operating machinery, operating motor vehicles, general observations of facilities, etc.)

Participation in an occupational health program (which can include medical assessment, surveillance, vaccination, and testing)

Use of personal protective equipment (which can include respirators, Personal Air Purifying Respirators [PAPR], gowns, gloves, face protection, other barrier equipment, etc.)

Our target base pay hiring range for this position is $65,000.00 - $87,500.00 per year. Actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s geographical location, relevant experience, qualifications, skills and knowledge.
