Global Marketing Director Commercial Business Development/General Medicine and Inflammation

Lets do this. Lets change the world. The Commercial Business Development Director for general medicine/inflammation is a key role within Global Marketing Access and Capabilities (GMAC). The Director is responsible for representing the commercial organization within a cross-functional deal team that identifies and assesses external opportunities.
The Director will lead commercial assessments of licensing and business development opportunities, working closely with the Global Marketing TA Heads, Therapeutic Area Group (TAG), Product Teams, Business Units, Regions and Corporate Strategy & Business Development. The person will identify and advocate for commercial business opportunities;develop key insights through desk research, market research, and opinion leader/HCP interviews when appropriate, lead a commercial sub-team to develop robust commercial assessments of licensing candidates and companies; and build alignment and provide one commercial voice in support of licensing opportunities.

The Commercial Business Development Director for general medicine/inflammation is a key role within Global Marketing Access and Capabilities (GMAC). The Director is responsible for representing the commercial organization within a cross-functional deal team that identifies and assesses external opportunities.
The Director will lead commercial assessments of licensing and business development opportunities, working closely with the Global Marketing TA Heads, Therapeutic Area Group (TAG), Product Teams, Business Units, Regions and Corporate Strategy & Business Development. The person will:
identify and advocate for commercial business opportunities; develop key insights through desk research, market research, and opinion leader/HCP interviews when appropriate; lead a commercial sub-team to develop robust commercial assessments of licensing candidates and companies; and 4) build alignment and provide one commercial voice in support of licensing opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:Identify External Opportunities
- Partner with TAG, Business Units and Regions, and Corporate Strategy and Business Development to identify and evaluate business development opportunities based on TA Strategy.
- Provide commercial voice at monthly/bimonthly Licensing Evaluation Team meetings.
- Present and advocate for business opportunities within GMAC and other functional areas, together with the Global TA Heads/General Managers.
Lead Commercial Assessment of External Opportunities
- Lead and manage the development of commercial assessments, including regional forecasts where appropriate.
- Partner closely with appropriate functions to provide commercial assessments, reflecting deep understanding of disease area, unmet need, TPP, market situation analysis and evolution, competitive landscape and lifecycle programs.
- Collaborate with Commercial Data and Analytics, Global Value and Access, Center for Observational Research, Clinical R&D, Global Regulatory Affairs and Safety, Finance and other functions to develop key inputs to commercial assessment and facilitate decision making.
- Be the point of contact for commercial licensing opportunities within the General Medicine and Inflammation Therapeutic Areas.
- Collaborate on the development of proposals, business cases, contracts, and financial analyses associated with licensing projects.
- Work with regions to develop integrated, global assessment of business development opportunities for binding term sheets.
Gain Appropriate Organizational Input and Seek Governance Approvals for BD Projects
- Commercial BD team works and communicates regularly on BD process and sharing of best practices; each BD Director accountable for content expertise with TA head.
- Lead key stakeholder review, development of appropriate communication documents, and presentation to governance committees for endorsement.
- Ensure that DAI principles are applied throughout the evaluation and approval process.
- Communicate decisions of Governance Committees to key partners.

Basic Qualifications:Doctorate degree and 4 years of marketing, business development and/or licensing experience.
OrMasters degree and 7 years of marketing, business development and/or licensing experience.
OrBachelors degree and 9 years of marketing, business development and/or licensing experience.
Preferred Qualifications:8+ years of industry experience in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or other Healthcare related field
5+ years of experience in Sales & Marketing rolesBusiness Development and Licensing experience
General Medicine TA experience
Background in life sciences
Experience in leading cross-functional teams
Knowledge- Business Development, Licensing and or Marketing/Science background
- Therapeutic area knowledge
- Understanding of functions relevant to the position including: Commercialization, Research & Development, Corporate Strategy & Business Development, Finance, Legal and Intellectual Property
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, tailored to audience
- Critical thinking, analytical and project management skills
- Goal oriented and results driven; ability to accommodate intense schedules and short deadlines

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
