Job DescriptionAbout the role:Join Takeda as a Sr. Manager, Market Research & Competitive Intelligence , GI where you will be responsible for consulting with brand teams across our GI Franchise as a strategic partner in achieving and maintaining competitive leadership. You will also lead, create and deliver integrated insights across multiple sources. As part of the Business Insights and Analytics team, you will report to the Director, GI Customer Insights. This is a hybrid role based in Lexington, MA.
How you will contribute:You will leverage technical expertise to:
- Initiate and lead market research and competitive intelligence work with outside partners
- Create cross-source insights, recommendations and alignment for action
- Develop competitive landscape analysis, business need understanding, and knowledge gap identification
- Communicate those integrated insights to relevant stakeholders across Takeda Gastroenterology Business Unit (GIBU) with urgency
- Leverage data and specialty expertise in Competitive Intelligence as a subject matter expert in brand planning (as appropriate / needed)
Responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams in predicting and planning solutions to achieve successful execution, driving the team to achieve clarity on issues and action. This requires decisiveness in drawing focus to appropriate data for decision-making. Alignment across insights (competitive intelligence (CI), market research, and analytics) and prioritization of competing strategic/tactical needs are key. Strong budget/scope/program management, strong consultative influence skills, and strong skills in identifying competitive strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats are also needed.
Advanced understanding of methods, industry ethics and compliance is required, as well as bench strengths in CI and market research execution for strategic-to-tactical recommendations.
Accountabilities:
- Proactively identify strategic and tactical CI needs for relevant products within the GIBU portfolio.
- Collaboratively prioritize and build a CI plan (KITs, KIQs), integrated with PMR, Analytics and cross-functional teams.
- Provide oversight and accountability on all processes related to procurement, vendors, compliance, pharmacovigilance and budget management activities in execution of each CI activity.
- Supervise compliance of relevant SOP and industry ethics for SBU operations
- Set and provide clear direction in research design with external partners and secures stakeholder buy-in.
- Develop and manage expectations, highlighting and resolving issues and ensuring regular communication with internal stakeholders.
- Proactively identifies methods to improve efficiency and quality with respect to Project Planning and Management within SBU, and influence via leadership across global peers.
- Align, monitors and reports on team-specific project delivery, expenses, and other insights operation metrics.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- B.A./B.S. Scientific or commercial education.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience
- At least 2 years of experience within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
- Demonstrated market research experience, particularly in pharmaceuticals and across quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
- Demonstrated leadership skills working in matrix teams, influencing outcomes in strategic and tactical decisions, specific to marketing in specialty pharmaceuticals
- Proven ability to communicate, strategize and collaborate effectively with senior management.
- Thorough knowledge of drug commercialization
- Advanced degree (recommended)
- Experience in Competitive Intelligence (recommended)
Knowledge and Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of best practices and leadership in specialty pharmaceutical commercial business operations, and the use of CI to drive decision-making in commercial strategy and tactics to achieve a leadership position.
- Demonstrated leadership in synthesis of primary and secondary CI, forecasting impact, market research, and data management to advise the development, execution and monitoring of specialty pharmaceutical leadership status.
- Able to lead in a matrix-working culture
- Proven ability to negotiate and influence in a consultative role
- Proactive ability to effectively monitor competitive activity, predict probable issues and problem solve (scenario planning)
- Proven consultative influence, communication and presentation skills – organizational, written and verbal
- Expertise in CI research methods as they pertain to integration with specialty pharmaceutical data sources for strategic recommendations
- Expertise in market research methods, study design, and interpretation to stakeholders
- History of managing multiple tasks of varied complexity simultaneously
- Proven advanced skills in utilizing Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word
Travel Requirements:
- Able to drive to or fly to various meeting sites, including overnight trips, up to 30%. Some international travel maybe required.

Lexington, MAU.S. Base Salary Range:
$133,000.00 - $209,000.00The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
