Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We wantall ofour people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate new technologies and approaches to support Intellia’s Nuclease Platform Development
  • Execute and troubleshoot high throughput experiments to optimize gene editing efficiency in different immortal and primary mammalian cells lines via different delivery methods (Lentivirus, AAV, Lipid nanoparticles etc.)
  • Perform experiments using multiple instruments to measure protein expression (RT-PCR, ELISA, Flow-cytometry etc.) and/or genome integrity (Next-generation sequencing etc.)
  • Document results in a timely manner in electronic notebooks and present data internally and with external collaborators.
  • Analyze and synthesize results to assess future directions.

About You:

You are a highly motivated, goal-driven, and a team-oriented scientist, who is excited about new challenges. You have a deep understanding of CRISPR-Cas9 or other relevant technologies, and experience with biochemical and cell-based assays to evaluate the function of the gene editing technologies.

  • Masters in Biochemistry, Biophysics or Cellular and Molecular biology with 2-4 years of research experience. Strong candidates with Bachelors in related disciplines with 4-6 years of experience will also be considered
  • Extensive experience in mammalian cell-based assays
  • Knowledge of the CRISPR landscape preferred
  • Experience with a broad spectrum of molecular and cell biology techniques. Experience with assay development and/or protein/RNA kinetics is a plus.
  • Organized, self-starter with demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Continuously seeks to improve existing scientific processes
  • Detail oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with different protein engineering approaches is a plus

Meet your future team:

The Gene Editing Platform team is a group of highly motivated and collaborative scientists. This group is responsible for the development of CRISPR-Cas9-based gene editing tools to advance Intellia’s platform to enable curative therapies. As a part of the Gene Editing Platform function, you will have the opportunity to broaden your experience with multiple cutting-edge gene therapy technologies.

The team is currently working onsite to execute workflows in a wet-lab environment. Therefore, we require the candidate to be currently local to Cambridge MA, or open to relocating. Our team is focused on building not just technical expertise but fostering an environment for growth of scientists interested in a career in biotech and chemistry. If you join our team, you can expect to join a hardworking and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and building a larger team that will make a difference in patient’s lives.

Company

Many of us pursuing work in the biotechnology industry are inspired by a loved one who is living with a disease or the loss of someone in our community. Rare genetic and oncological and immunological diseases not only affect the people living with often debilitating and life-threatening symptoms, but these disorders also significantly impact their families, friends and caregivers.

Our researchers work tirelessly to harness the genome editing technology CRISPR/Cas9 for human therapeutic use. Jennifer Doudna, an Intellia co-founder, and Emmanuelle Charpentier were awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their pioneering work in CRISPR. We at Intellia are humbled to have a hand in making what we believe to be medical history. As a leader in this space, we take this responsibility to patients seriously.

We are employing a modular genome editing platform to create diverse in vivo and ex vivo pipelines, spanning a range of therapeutic indications. Guided by this full-spectrum approach, we are committed to making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to creating novel engineered cell therapies for various cancers and autoimmune diseases.
