Senior Associate Scientist, Mammalian Cell Transfections (Contract)

The Role:

Life Edit is seeking a scientist knowledgeable in genome editing technologies and skilled in mammalian cell culture to be part of a highly collaborative team focused on advancing Life Edit’s RNA-guided editing systems. As a member of Lead Development, the selected candidate would work to develop and characterize gene editing programs targeting diseases to transition these programs from research to preclinical evaluation and clinical advancement. A successful candidate will join our team and make significant contributions that support both internal and external programs.

 Here’s What You’ll Do:

• Evaluate and optimize Life Edit gene editing systems in mammalian cells to select optimal systems for further therapeutic discovery and development
• Maintain cell culture of various mammalian cell lines
• Execute mammalian cell transfections to assess gene editing systems using high throughput screening
• Perform cell-based assays by which to evaluate Life Edit’s genome editors
• Design and execute experiments in a timely and independent manner
• Maintain meticulous records of experimental methods, tool development, and protocols
• Work with a collaborative team to troubleshoot experimental procedures

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years, or Master’s degree with applicable experience in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field
• Expertise in culturing, transfecting, and analyzing mammalian cells—primary cell culture experiment a plus
• Experience using cell-based assays such as flow cytometry, ELISAs, and viability assays
• Experience with molecular biology techniques including PCR, cloning, DNA/RNA extraction and purification, and NGS library preparation
• Prior experience with CRISPR systems and familiarity with NGS techniques and automation is advantageous
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
