The Role:
The Genome Editing group is looking for an experienced scientist with a strong background in iPSCs biology and cell differentiation to help expand our therapeutic capabilities and continue to improve our technology discovery platform. The successful candidate will have a strong background in pluripotent cell culture, direct differentiation into different cell types, experience with genome editing on mammalian cells, and expertise in implementing cellular models to validate and optimize therapeutic leads. We are interested in curious, enthusiastic, competent, and self-motivated individuals to work in our company. A willingness to embrace our cultural values will be critical for success in this role. This is an exciting opportunity to help build a successful therapeutics company from an early stage.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
- Implement and optimize protocols for the differentiation of iPSCs into specific cell types using cutting-edge techniques aimed at enhancing the efficiency and reproducibility of the differentiation processes.
- Plan, execute, and deliver complex research projects involving iPSC differentiation, ensuring strict adherence to project timelines.
- Develop and optimize methods for introducing Life Edit genome editing systems into pluripotent cells and their progeny.
- Establish rigorous standards and quality control measures for iPSC culture and differentiation by regularly evaluating protocol efficacy and making data-driven adjustments to optimize outcomes within designated timelines.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, to integrate novel differentiation techniques into broader research projects. Coordinate with team members to align project objectives with experimental approaches and timelines.
- Analyze and interpret data ensuring clear documentation of methodologies and outcomes.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal and external partners to communicate progress in line with project schedules.
- Assist in mentoring and training research associates and coordinating the day-to-day operations.
- Follow advancements in the field of gene editing and gene therapy published in the literature and presented at conferences.
Requirements:
- PhD in Biochemistry, Cell biology, Molecular biology, Neuroscience, or a related field with 5+ years of experience. Or a master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular biology, Neuroscience, or a related field with 10+ years of experience
- Extensive expertise in generating, culturing, differentiating, and characterizing pluripotent cells and their progeny.
- Expertise in differentiating pluripotent cells into either hepatocytes, neuronal lineages, or blood cells in 2D and 3D systems.
- Demonstrated ability to design, plan, and implement pluripotent cell differentiation techniques.
- Mastery of modern ligand-based assays, molecular and biochemical techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, qRT-PCR, NGS, WB, IF, ELISA, and Flow Cytometry
- Expertise in differentiating iPSCs into organoid cultures is highly desirable.
- Direct experience in genome editing mammalian cells is highly preferred.
- Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written).
