We are seeking a highly collaborative Principal Scientist- Data Science to join our Data Science team as a part of our new Regeneron Cell Medicine (RCM) group. You will be responsible for bringing an engineering approach to our analytical workflows and high dimensional data flows to enable robustness and scalability of our analyses and to enable our collaborators to extract maximal insights from our burgeoning and precious datasets. As a Principal Scientist- Data Science, a typical day might include:
Engaging with our groundbreaking science, finding new opportunities where computational engineering and automation can accelerate progress and ultimately bring more time to patients
Being an advocate and champion for these approaches within RCM Research and across RCM broadly
Collaborating with research scientists, data scientists, and IT to understand analytical and informatics needs and how to integrate solutions into the larger RCM computational infrastructure
Developing and maintaining in-house pipelines for processing and extracting insights from research data, including high-throughput NGS and CyTOF data, routine characterization assay data, and custom assays
Creating tools for and partnering with our collaborators in IT to enable automated flows of research and correlative data into data lake environments.
Using cloud computing platforms like AWS for data and pipeline management and automation
Engaging with data science colleagues across Regeneron to identify new opportunities for synergy and collaboration

In order to be considered for this role, you must have at least a Ph.D. and 5+ years, MS and 8+ years, or BS and 10+ years of relevant experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, data science, computer science, software engineering, engineering, or a related field. Must have experience in solving biological/biomedical problems within a biotech/academic setting. We need someone with a strong proficiency in Python and/or R, SQL, and expertise with Linux command line environment. Previous experience with pipeline workflow languages, particularly Nextflow and Snakemake, and/or AWS Workflow Orchestration (Step and Lambda functions) is required. Experience with SevenBridges and/or DNANexus is a plus. Must have a strong understanding of data analytics, statistics, and machine learning concepts/tools. Prior experience with Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures (particularly Databricks) with developing ETL processes, and with end-to-end data solutions is strongly preferred.
