Job Details

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

We are actively seeking a motivated and skilled Scientist 2, Platform Biology to join our dynamic research team. In this role, you will work at the nexus of our Research and Engineering teams, applying advanced microscopy techniques to provide key data and drive drug discovery programs forward. You will become a champion of Eikon’s core platform, working collaboratively across teams to conduct cutting-edge research, drive impactful research initiatives, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.

About You

The ideal candidate for this position is a dynamic and experienced professional in the field of Biology, Bioengineering, or Biotechnology. This candidate boasts a proven track record in experimental design, execution, and data analysis, preferably within the biotechnology sector. They are proficient in advanced laboratory techniques, instrumentation, and technologies relevant to cutting-edge biological research. Their strong analytical skills enable them to effectively derive, interpret, and communicate complex scientific insights. Their excellent communication skills facilitate the clear conveyance of scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. With a collaborative mindset, they work harmoniously within multidisciplinary teams and are proactive, adaptable, and responsive to evolving research priorities and challenges.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate possible therapeutic targets and advance them toward screening on Eikon’s novel high-throughput super resolution imaging platform.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data using sophisticated scientific techniques, extracting meaningful insights and contributing to project objectives.
  • Develop and optimize experimental protocols, assays, and methodologies to support the progression of research goals.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams – including biologists, chemists, optical engineers, software engineers, and data scientists – sharing expertise, insights, and fostering a collaborative scientific environment.=
  • Stay current with the latest scientific breakthroughs and industry trends, integrating relevant knowledge into research strategies.
  • Prepare comprehensive and accurate documentation of research findings, contributing to internal reports, presentations, and potential intellectual property.

Qualifications

  • Postdoc Fellowship or Ph.D. plus 2 years of relevant experience or Master’s degree plus 12 years relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of relevant experience in Biology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or related field.
  • Proven track record in experimental design, execution, and data analysis, preferably within the biotechnology sector.
  • Demonstrated experience using quantitative microscopy to derive new biological insight.
  • Proficiency in cell biology techniques including mammalian cell culture, transient transfections, stable cell line generation, and using siRNA/CRISPR for gene-knockdown/knockout studies. Experience using lab automation to run robust high-throughput cell-based assays is a plus.
  • Experience with advanced microscopy techniques (e.g. Single-molecule localization microscopy, structured illumination, FCS, or similar) not required but highly encouraged.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to derive, interpret, and communicate complex scientific insights effectively. Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, R, or other programming languages highly encouraged.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling clear conveyance of scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
