The Role:
Moderna is seeking a highly skilled and talented Senior Scientist with strong analytical development experience in pharmaceutical industry. The individual in this role will focus on implementing analytical control strategy and managing analytical development activities for early development mRNA programs, working with technical and operation teams across different functions to support the development of mRNA, lipid nanoparticle (LNP), and drug products as vaccines and therapeutics. This individual is expected to work in a highly collaborative, cross functional team environment, and interface with Analytical Development, Process Development, Production, Clinical Ops., Reg. Affairs and Quality. The successful candidate should be proactive, enthusiastic, and passionate for science, have strong communication skills, and be flexible in a fast-paced and highly dynamic environment.
This role will be located at the Moderna Technology Center in Norwood, MA.
Heres What Youll Do:
Contribute as part of the Analytical Strategy Team to support the development of RNA, lipid nanoparticle and drug product for mRNA programs in early stage.
Work closely with colleagues within Analytical Development, Process Development, Analytical Tech Operations, Analytical Sciences and Technology, QC teams, and Regulatory CMC to define, design, and execute analytical control strategy and development plan
Collaborate with colleagues within Analytical Chemistry, Analytical Tech Operations, Analytical Sciences and Technology, and QC teams to support method life cycle management
Prioritize work across multiple pipeline programsand deliver planned analytical activities a deadline-driving environment through collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team.
Author and review technical reports, development protocols, and regulatory filing.
Demonstrate independent judgment in technique and method selection, study design, generate and contribute to data analysis, technical report writing and presenting findings to multidisciplinary teams
Maintain a safe laboratory work environment and be accountable for good documentation practices.
Heres What Youll Bring to the Table:
PhD in Analytical Chemistry or closely related field with a minimum of 3-5 years of industry experience in analytical development or quality control in the biopharmaceutical space.
Proven ability to solve technical problems
Hands-on experience in analytics, including method development, quantification, transfer, and life cycle management.
A deep knowledge and practical experience with data analysis and statistical evaluation
Experience in authoring regulatory submission documents in pharmaceutical or biotech industries
Knowledge of nucleic acid chemistry and biology and standard methods of analysis of these molecules.
Knowledge of theories, principles and techniques of relevant scientific areas and understanding of industry practices and standards
Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail
Strong interpersonal skills with an eagerness to work with and support colleagues in other departments
Ability to navigate through ambiguity and rapid growth and adapt to change.
(Preferred) Knowledge of analytical control strategy and current FDA and ICH guidelines.
