Job Details

Company Description

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon’s discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

As a Research Associate at Eikon, you will support advancement of our broad drug discovery pipeline and platform development. You will play a key role in developing and implementing a wide variety of assays ranging from conventional biochemistry and biophysics to latest single-molecule imaging techniques. You will collaborate closely with biologists, chemists, computer scientists and microscope engineers to create and leverage new assay and screening approaches that will push our drug discovery pipeline forward.

 About You

  • You’re a rigorous biochemist who takes pride to execute and deliver key data contributing to drug discovery
  • You’re conscientious in paying extreme attention to detail, documentation, and organization
  • You’re self-motivated and are not intimidated to solve challenging problems
  • You thrive in a fast-paced and highly interdisciplinary environment and can multi-task if necessary
  • You can perform tasks efficiently and consistently under reasonable timeline
  • You’re resourceful and can work independently under minimal supervision
  • You’re collaborative by nature and are proactive to offer help if needed

What You’ll Do

  • Work with a team of scientists and researchers to provide biochemical support in Eikon’s drug discovery pipeline
  • Design and execute protein expression in bacterial, insect, and/or mammalian expression system
  • Perform protein chromatography and basic protein characterization, biochemically or biophysically
  • Think critically and creatively to solve problems. Applying knowledge to design and optimize biochemical or biophysical assay to enable high throughput characterization of protein-ligand or protein-protein interaction
  • Troubleshoot unexpected results and keep up with current scientific literature as necessary

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry/biophysics, or any related discipline with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Must have extensive experience with conventional protein purification (affinity, IonEx, SEC) preferably in a FPLC system and protein characterization (UV-Vis, SDS-PAGE, western blots)
  • Some experience with any technical biochemical (ELISA, HPLC, MS) or biophysical characterization (DSF/DLS, SPR/BLI, ITC, MST/TRIC) is a plus
  • Any experience with high throughput screening assay (FP, AlphaScreen, TR-FRET) or drug discovery is also a plus
  • Experience with cell culture is optional
  • Strong organizational and communicational skills to present in project team, departmental, or company-wide setting

At Eikon, employee compensation also includes bonus and equity compensation, in addition to several generous benefit programs, including:

  • 401k plan with company matching
  • Medical (premiums covered by Eikon at 95%), dental and vision insurance (premiums covered by Eikon at 100%)
  • Mental health and wellness benefits
  • Weeklong summer and winter holiday shutdowns
  • Generous paid time off and holiday policies
  • Life/AD&D Insurance (premiums covered by Eikon at 100%) and optional supplemental employee-paid life/AD&D policies
  • Enhanced parental leave benefit
  • Daily subsidized lunch program when on-site

The expected salary range for this role is $77,000 to $89,000 depending on skills, competency, and the market demand for your expertise.
